2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings Announced: UM and MUST Rankings Remain Stable, CityU Ranking Rises
MACAU, September 30 - British education magazine—The Times Higher Education (THE)—releases its 2027 World University Rankings on 30 September, covering 2,297 institutions from 118 countries and regions. In the 2027 THE World University Rankings, the rankings of the University of Macau and Macau University of Science and Technology are about the same as in 2026, at 154th and 269th globally, respectively; while the City University of Macao rises from the 601–800 band to the 451–500 band.
The Macao SAR Government attaches great importance to the development of higher education. In line with the national 15th Five-Year Plan and the Education Development 15th Five-Year Plan, it is fully committed to the construction of the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) Town, launching joint training programmes with higher education institutions outside Macao, and actively promoting the integrated development of ‘education, technology and talent’. It has formulated the Outline of the Medium- and Long-Term Development of Higher Education in Macao (2021–2030) and established a higher education quality assurance system to continuously enhance the overall strength of Macao’s higher education. In the future, the Education and Youth Development Bureau will continue to advance the internationalisation of Macao’s higher education, encourage more international higher education conferences and events to be held in Macao, and leverage Macao’s unique advantages of being ‘backed by the motherland and connected to the world’.
